Tech giant Apple announced new software features and services at its Worldwide Developer Conference, which includes an updated iPhone lock screen and an Apple pay-later services that push the smart giant deeper into finance.
Apple Pay Later Feature
The new feature Apple Pay Later, is a highly predicted feature added to the Wallet app. Bloomberg had reported before that the Apple Pay Later service was coming, to expand into the finance sector which also includes bringing more of its infrastructure in-house.
Apple’s latest iOS 16, will include the new iPhone lock screen, letting iPhone users to personalize the feature and view widgets — software that handles simple tasks. Another feature called Live Activities will make it easy to monitor the track of events or activities, like NBA game or an Uber ride.
These features come a few months before the launch of a new Apple iPhone which typically gets unveiled in the fall. That device accounted for almost half of the company’s revenue in the last financial year, generating almost $192 billion.
The announcements also included a feature update that will let users edit messages they’ve already sent and unsent messages. And Apple’s CarPlay feature is getting an overhaul that will integrate more closely with a vehicle’s instruments, such as the speedometer and other gauges.
The Apple Watch also is getting improvements, such as atrial fibrillation detection to help with heart health. And the device’s latest software — watchOS 9 — will better track sleep to indicate what stage users are experiencing at different times at night.
In addition, the Apple watch will get more so called complications the pieces of information on the device’s face.
